About the data ▸
What the dots mean: a node shows available demand (offtake) connection
capacity — how much load (e.g. a datacenter) could connect there today. Generation (injection)
capacity is a different thing and is only ever shown as an explicit, separately-labelled proxy layer
(e.g. France's Caparéseau). Queued (purple) = requests already in the connection pipeline, NOT
spare capacity — the opposite signal. Indicative (teal) = an operator flagged the point as
feasible but published no MW figure.
Non-additive: never sum two nearby nodes to claim a bigger site — connecting a
big load at one node consumes headroom at its neighbours too.
Banded sources: some operators (e.g. Svenska kraftnät, Järvi-Suomen) publish
capacity in bands, not exact numbers. We always carry the band's lower bound so the map never
overstates what's available.
Lines vs nodes: no TSO/DSO in Europe publishes real per-line power flow
publicly. What we show on a line is the nearest capacity node's headroom (≤12 km) — a proxy,
not a live measurement. REE's GeoRed hub circuits additionally carry a published thermal
rating (MVA) — a maximum design limit, not available headroom either.
Corridor finder: building-level connected power is not publicly screenable
anywhere in Europe (meter-ID/DSO enquiry only) — candidate sites are targets to verify, not
confirmed availability.
